Hailee Grimm is fighting Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. It’s a cancer that affects white blood cells, the main fighters of the immune system. It’s also the most common cancer among young children in the U.S.

The good news is that ALL is treatable, and the chances of making a full recovery are high. But her treatment will take two and a half years.

But that’s not all we can do to help Hailee and other children. Donating blood stem cells can help change the lives of people with blood cancer or other blood diseases, helping to restore healthy blood production by replacing diseased stem cells. 

Donors need to confirm that they’re a match for a patient, so that their cells won’t be rejected after donation. They then give blood that has the stem cells collected from it before being returned to the body, like when donating plasma or platelets. It’s more complicated and time-consuming than giving blood, but you have the opportunity to directly help the life of a child in need.
