Jesus began the Last Supper with the cup, following traditional Passover order that his disciples would have recognized. However, Jesus redefined the meaning of the four traditional Passover cups, showing that true freedom comes not from political deliverance but from redemption through his sacrifice. When Jesus and the disciples sang hymns after he predicted his death, they were following Passover tradition while celebrating the ultimate exodus from sin. Jesus fulfilled the three layers of Passover: the biblical foundation, historical context, and traditional celebration, revealing himself as the true Passover Lamb.
